New Permanent Display

The Passivhaus Hub now has a display stand at the National Self Build and Renovation Centre in Swindon, displaying ecological and sustainable solutions for passivhaus buildings, including:

  • Perforated clay blocks with integral insulation
  • I-joists
  • Woodfibre insulations
  • Lime renders
  • Triple glazed windows with cork insulated frames
  • Sheeps wool insulation
  • Hemp insulation
  • Airtight membranes and tapes
The display opened for the Self Build Show on 14/15th April 2012, proving popular with visitors.
The stand shows a number of methods that Conker Conservation Ltd have used in recent years to achieve Passivhaus standards, materials were supplied by Ecomerchant.

The National Self Build and Renovation Centre
 is a permanent exhibition centre for self builders and renovators.  Visitors can walk through 2 permanent houses, view cut-away foundations, floors, roofs, septic tanks and much more, and there are more than 240 exhibitor stands featuring products and services.

The Passivhaus Standard Demystified

Following the success of our previous event, this conference held on 8 December 2011 at Hadlow College Rural Regeneration Centre focused on planning policies and aesthetic issues which affect all new and refurbished buildings.

Topics covered included:

  • Current energy framework for planning and building regulations
  • The Passivhaus standard explained
  • A tour of Hadlow’s Passivhaus building, identifying key visual features
  • Retrofit of existing buildings to EnerPHit standard
  • Case studies

The Passivhaus Standard in Affordable Housing

This conference was held at Hadlow College Rural Regeneration Centre, a certified Passivhaus building on 18 October 2011.

The architect and builder gave a presentation about the building.

Passiv Haus Hub Launch Event

The PassivHaus launch event on Sustainable Solutions for Passive Design took place at The Building Centre, Store Street, London WC1E on Tuesday 13th September 2011.
